This information tells you what you need to do to apply for a Contributory Aged Parent visa (subclass 864).
You must be in Australia at the time you apply. You can only apply if your temporary visa allows you to apply for another visa while you are in Australia. You must be in Australia when the visa is decided.
If you apply for this visa in Australia, you would be able to get a Bridging visa that allows you to stay in the country lawfully while your application is processed. If you are given a Bridging visa A, you can apply for Bridging visa B to travel outside Australia while you wait for a decision.
