The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has released the new Points Test for General Skilled Migration (GSM), available here and through Commonwealth of Australia Law here.<br />

Some major changes include:<br />
<br />
The bundling of qualifications and work experience to achieve the majority of points;<br />
An increased of the GSM age limit to 50 years of age;<br />
The inclusion of two additional recognised English language tests;<br />
The degree of relationship between sponsor and applicant now determining points awarded for sponsorship;<br />
Sponsors now must be Australian citizens of at least five years and resident of at least the two years immediately prior to application; and<br />
Regional family sponsors now must be residents of a designated area for at least two years immediately prior to application.<br />

The applicant provides evidence of having achieved
an IELTS average band score of at least 6.0 on the
3 best of the applicant’s scores based on the 4 test
The MIA would like to retract the previous Notice announcing the release of the General Skilled Migration (GSM) Point Test.
The information provided to the Institute appears to have been inaccurate and we apologise for any confusion this message caused.
The New Points Test is still expected to be released tomorrow as previously reported, and the MIA will pass on that information as soon as it is officially released.
The planned MIA CPD courses on the GSM Points Test changes in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and online will go ahead as usual, with more states to be added soon.
