Tax Accountant internshipposition in Sydney CBD – Tax Advisory Firm

Location: Sydney CBD (main) and Neutral Bay
Length: 5 Days/week up to 12 weeks, exceptional candidates may be offeredFT/PT job earlier
Duration: May 2020 – Aug 2020 with possible PT/CAS roles upon successfulcompletion
Position & Areas Of Practice: Tax Accounting (Individual and SMEs)
Remuneration: Travel Allowance

Training Programs:
(courses and training materials are providedalong with the internship program with homework and exams)

Stage 1 - tax return basics for individual
- Income Tax basics including investment properties
- GST, BAS, IAS & PAYG
- Capital Gains Tax
- Business tax for sole traders and partnerships
Stage 2 - tax return basics for business
- company tax basics
- SME concessions
- Preparation of financial statements
Accounting practice administration
Use of professional software such as HandiTax, XERO, MYOB and Excel

Stage 2 is only available for candidate whosuccessfully passed stage 1 exam over 80%.

Exposure areas:
(You should have basic knowledge of the tax fromtertiary studies or experience)

· Preparing taxstatements, financial statements and BAS statements at required intervals

Creating and returning statements and documents to clients by set deadlines
Liaising with clients, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other regulatory bodies when required
Preparing income tax returns and activity statements
Engaging regularly with clients and maintaining strong relationships
Assisting managing emails and correspondence from clients
Regularly reviewing systems and making updates and improvements where necessary
Identifying areas where clients and businesses can reduce tax, make claims and increase profit
Possessing strong knowledge of tax law and statutory regulations
Understanding financial landscape and market trends
Using professional accounting software and advanced Excel skills
