English language ability

You must demonstrate that you meet the English language threshold. This means that you must provide evidence of your English language ability before the department makes a decision on your application.

The English language threshold is at the competent English level and this will give you 15 points.

You also meet the English language threshold and will receive 15 points if you hold a valid passport from, and are a citizen of, one of the following countries:

* United Kingdom (UK)

* Canada

* New Zealand

* United States of America (USA)

* Republic of Ireland.

If you wish to claim 25 points you will need to meet the required English language test results for proficient English.

English levels

The following table shows the English language levels and the evidence you will need to provide.

Level of English Points Evidence required

Proficient 25 points

You must provide one of the following:

* IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) Number to show you have a band score of at least seven on each of the four components – speaking, reading, listening and writing

or

* evidence of having achieved a score of `B´ or higher on each of the four components of the OET Test.

Competent 15 points

You must provide one of the following:

* evidence that you hold an eligible passport

* IELTS TRF Number to show you have a band score of at least six on each of the four components – speaking, reading, listening and writing.

没这回事，成绩单上那个日期一定要在lodge之前。freeoz上声音很多，要自行判断。

Changes to the time of provision of evidence of English language ability
There are new arrangements for the provision of evidence for English language ability. Applicants for the following GSM subclasses have until the time of decision to provide evidence of their English language ability.

Skilled – Independent (Residence) visa (subclass 885)
Skilled – Sponsored (Residence) visa (subclass 886)
Skilled – Independent (Migrant) visa (subclass 175)
Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) visa (subclass 176)
Skilled – Provisional (Regional Sponsored) visa (subclass 475)
Skilled – Provisional (Recognised Graduate) visa (subclass 476)
Skilled – Provisional (Graduate) visa (subclass 485)
Skilled – Provisional (Regional Sponsored) visa (subclass 487).
Applicants should not delay in providing their evidence of English language ability. The department will not delay finalising applications where English language test results have not been provided at time of application. Applicants will have 28 days from the date of application to provide their English language results if they did not provide them at time of application. At this point in time, if evidence has not been provided the application will be refused.
