Further to your successful skilled state sponsorship application under the 176 - Sponsored visa scheme, we are writing to notify you of upcoming changes to the visa application process.
On 1 July 2012 the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) will be introducing SkillSelect and new skilled visa subclasses. SkillSelect is an online system that enables skilled workers interested in migrating to Australia to record their details to be considered for a skilled visa through an Expression of Interest (EOI). Visit the SkillSelect website to find out the latest information: www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect.
If you register your EOI on SkillSelect and you are nominated by the Victorian Government for sponsorship, you will automatically receive an invitation to apply, subject to occupation ceilings.
Whether you are intending to apply for a sponsored visa before or after 1 July 2012, your sponsorship will remain valid during this transition period and will not be affected by the DIAC changes.
If you are submitting your visa application prior to 1 July 2012, this must be lodged with DIAC and the visa application reference number provided to the Victorian Skilled and Business Migration Program. We will then be able to notify DIAC of our nomination by sending a completed Form 1100.
If you are applying for the sponsored visa after 30 June 2012, the Expression of Interest application (EOI) must be lodged with DIAC and confirmation of this application provided to the Victorian Skilled and Business Migration Program. We will then be able to notify DIAC of our nomination via SkillSelect. Note that if you are submitting an EOI application you must advise us so that we can update your visa sponsorship to the new Skilled – Nominated (subclass 190).
In order to provide an opportunity for applicants to apply under their favoured visa process, Victorian Government sponsorship has been extended until 31 August 2012. However, if you do not advise the Skilled and Business Migration Program that you have submitted either the visa application or EOI application by 31 August 2012, Victorian Government state nomination will be withdrawn.
