The thirty-seventh essay
In some countries, the national traditional arts are facing extinction. Some people think that the government should support them. Do you agree or disagree? What should the government do?
Answer:
In this day and age, as human societies have developed rapidly in various areas, while national traditional arts trend to go extinct. For the sake of saving, some people believe governments should make efforts to support them.
In my view, not governments' efforts but individuals' can save the national traditional arts going extinct. As a matter of fact, there are too many fresh and fashion things brought by globalisation impacting people nowadays. In contrast, national traditional arts are engulfed by those. In the course of time, that might reach an endangered level. Thus, not only can governments' supports retrieve the importance of traditional arts, but also individuals' regard plays the same important role in achieving this objective.
However, governments and individuals can make a concerted effort to retrieve the importance of traditional arts. The citizenry of a nation always have patriotic emotions including national pride and national cultural identities as well as traditional arts. They might just forget temporarily because of a vast deal of international cultures' aggression. So, governments should publicise or educate national culture like traditional arts to their citizens in particular the next generation. As a consequence, people's patriotism would be wakened. They might preserve their national culture and take pride in that. Likewise, governments can also allocate money to sponsor some traditional art exhibitions and invest some art libraries thereby developing their national culture.
Summarily, in my view, saving national traditional arts might need governments and individuals to make a concerted efforts instead of just governments' support. Governments should waken their citizenry to preserve their own cultural heritage and develop them thereby strengthening the status of traditional arts in people's mind.
