The forty-third essay
Technological progress in the past century has its negative effect, despite its remarkable contribution. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Answer:
As technology has developed greatly in this day and age, that was accompanied by some negative effects in past century. Even though human has benefited from that development enormously, but humankind has paid huge costs for compensation and they will continue to pay.
Undoubtedly, technological progress absolutely contributes lots to human society. For instance, Lamps make our night not dark any longer, Aeroplanes allow people to fly around the earth, people find their living convenient due to household electrical appliances' help. However, technology also contributes much to war and environmental destruction.
Unfortunately, technological development helps wars becoming more destructive and catastrophic than before. As long as human exist, there wars occur. From cold-weapon era, human might not stop to fight each other. Subsequently, the powder had been invented. As a consequence, human could kill others easily. In the modern century, scientists innovate the nuclear bomb. That terrible weapon has made not only numerous people losing their families but also severe environmental pollution.
In terms of environmental problem, technological progress has put diverse pollution on this planet. First and foremost, the development of fossil fuel has created serious air and water pollution on the earth. Greenhouse effect makes the climate around the world increasing harsh, which caused by poisonous gas human factories and transportation exhausted. Additionally, technological development has stretched invaluable natural resources to the limit. In the course of time, the future generation of Homo sapiens might hardly survive due to resource shortage of the earth.
Summarily, personally, I agree with that although people have benefit from technological progress in various area in the past century, but that also cause huge disasters to the humankind.
