3 It is more important for a building to serve a purpose than to look good. Architects should not produce buildings as works of art. Do you agree or disagree.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Architects often find them in a dilemma when trying to design a building as there is always a controversial subject that whether the functionality of building is more important than it’s exterior. In my point of view, both of them are equally important.
It is undeniable that functionality is the first thing architects should take into consideration before they design a building. Modern architectural styles are, in many instance, are produced to serve an exact purpose. Large-span factories boot productivity as they can accommodate workshops where heavy equipment is stored and used for assembly-line production. And in urban areas, high-rise buildings can help urban developer save valuable land. Moreover, architects now use plenty of modern building materials, which can save energy and preserve environment, so that offer city dwellers better living conditions.
Nevertheless, the appearance of building is also important. In modern society, buildings are the most significant part of a city. People can easily identify a city by the landmark buildings of the city. Also, building style represents cultural identities of the city. So, beautiful structures can both enhance cityscape and rise reputation for the city. On the other hand, with the development of modern technologies, new design concepts are being adopted to construct modern buildings, which not only enable buildings meet practical needs, but also have splendid exterior.
Overall, my conclusion is that architects should take both functionality and appearance into account. In this way, people can enjoy their lives, and the city can inherit cultures.
