2 Some people believe that charitable organizations should give aid to people in greatest need, regardless of their location. Some others think that charitable organizations should concentrate on helping people who live in their own country. Discuss both these views and give your opinion.
Today, with the development of society, human beings have enjoyed wonderful lives. However, there are also many people who still live under the poverty line. In terms of charitable donation, there are two different views. Some people believe that charitable organizations should help out people who are greatest need, no matter their nationality. While others argue that they should give priority to help people who live in their own country.
These who hold the statement that people who in greatest need should be considered first insist that the nature of charity is to help people who are actually in need or difficulties. Therefore, they take it for granted that donations such as funds, food and clothing should be allocated to the poorest people regardless of their location. Besides, they believe that it is a good way to narrow the gap between wealthy countries and the poor countries, and conflicts between them can be reduced consequently.
However, we should take into account the fact that although in the most affluent counties, there are also a large amount of have-nots. Charitable organizations should pay more attention to help them rather than foreigners. Also, all tax revenue comes from citizens, so each citizen has the rights of being supported and financed. In addition, it is reported that some donations for poor countries are not actually properly distributed, because of their government’s weak management. What is more, some financial supports are misused to buy weapons make terrorist attacks.
Considering the various factors, I suggest that international aid should be cut down, and more support should be allocated to help their own citizens. As to help the impoverished countries, I believe the best way is to impart technologies to them to promote productivity rather than direct financial support
