As you noted, we do not do the skills assessment for external auditor. However, if you are having your skills assessed for Internal Auditor, then when we do the Points Test Assessment for Internal Auditor, we assess the last 10 years of employment to find out if it is ‘closely related’ to internal auditor. For our points test, we take ‘closely related’ to mean ‘in the same ANZSCO unit group’. Therefore, if your employment fulfils the requirements of an external auditor as listed in ANZSCO, we as the assessor for internal auditor say that the employment tasks are closely related to internal auditor.
This does not apply for the skills assessment, which needs to be ‘highly relevant’ not just ‘closely related’. For employment to be seen as highly relevant to internal auditor it has to be as an internal auditor.
Does that make sense? I understand that the two different requirements for the different assessments can be confusing.
